Script to Web: lessons learned adapting technical/domain-specific code to the web by Riley Doyle
Summary: Python is an increasingly popular language for "domain experts" in technical fields such as bioinformatics and finance, yet most end users will not accept a script or command line application as a final deliverable. Pyramid's lack of "strong opinions" about which database or ORM to use can be frustrating for developers new to the web, but ultimately this flexibility is a key long-term advantage for large, complex domain-specific data sets. This talk will cover key lessons learned in building an advanced "DNA Search Engine" with Pyramid.
