Founded
January 9, 2009

Meet with local professional and aspiring screenwriters to discuss beat sheets, scripts, and pilots. Get help on character development, story line or just stuck places in your writing.

It will help you greatly to have some basic knowledge of screenwriting and screenplay format as well as a passion for film. We are generally following the Sequence Method and also taking inspiration from Blake Snyder's Save the Cat!

We meet on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 10am to 1pm.

Active members (regular attendees) are invited to be part of a private Yahoo group where we post the work to be critiqued and stay more actively connected.

Feel free to check us out!

What members are saying

They should continue to write and get use to being critiqued.

Good group. Useful input from participants. Reinforces my own writing activity.

“I love to write. I am currently working on two projects. I would greatly enjoy the opportunity to communicate with others about what I am doing.”

“I recently moved to Long Beach, don't know many people here and want to get to know other screenwriters.”

“I've never had anything published, except for my face on a milk carton (insert rim shot here). I am a "hack" writer looking to connect with "real" writers so that I can constructively harness my inner lunatic.”

“I'm hoping to be inspired to actually begin and complete an idea I've had in my head for years!”

“I'm an alum of UCLA's Advanced Professional Program in Screenwriting. The best about the program was to bounce ideas, swap notes, and talk shop with other students. The more writers I talk to, the more I learn about the craft or the business.”
