What we’re about
From the inside we are having quick and radical shifts in awareness as an entire group. The Persian poet Rumi speaks of "the Wine of Love". Jesus speaks of "the Peace that passes understanding." The Buddha speaks of "the Emptiness", not as absence but as potentiality. These and more are available, not as poetic ideas but as direct experience. Easy and direct, all dances are taught as for beginners each time. We really work at not having an in-group and an out-group.
We believe that all religions can lead to direct experience of our Divine Source. We do not honor any particular path over another, letting effectiveness determine what is right for each person. What works is what's right. If you are interested in the adventure of the vast inner life of the Spirit then this is one of the many good ways to begin. For more info: www.dancesofuniversalpeace.org

-Donations accepted, but not required-Come and weave a circle of sacred presence and harmony with shared movement and song. All spiritual traditions of the world are honored in a circle of universal prayer.
No former experience is necessary (And... seasoned dancers and dance leaders are more than welcome to bring their wisdom, dances, and shared leadership:)
We'll take a break in the middle of this event for some meet and greet with snacks (bring something to share if you like)

On the term "Sufi":
The mystical side of Islam is often what this word refers to, but in the universalist lineage which birthed the Dances, we find a different meaning:
"The Sufi movement is a group of people, belonging to different religions, who have not left their religions but have learned to understand them better; and their love is in life, as the love for God and humanity, instead of for a particular sect.
The principle work that the Sufi movement has to accomplish is to bring about a better understanding between East and West and between the nations and races of this world. And the note that the Sufi message is striking at the present time is the note which sounds the divinity of the human soul – to make human beings recognize the divinity in the human soul."
