Hometown: Carmel, CA

I'm looking to meet new and exciting people with a shared passion for both the Monterey Bay and also Photography. Being able to get out in a group and also share techniques and experience is the way to pay back and also grow as an artist. Those are two things that I am deeply passionate about.
I've been photographing since I was four, studied in the classic analog photographic techniques, and made the leap to digital when the first digital cameras shipped. Throughout my school years, I either had a camera in hand or took every fine art photography course I could get away with taking. I have a passion for alternative photography (making my own film, pinhole cameras, shooting with Holgas) and also medium and instant photography. Today, I have largely turned my back on Digital Photography in favor of film and large format cameras for everything except color. I believe there is a place for all types of mediums in this art. Style wise, I am more of a nature photographer that also has an appreciation with street scenes and urban/industrial subjects.
Yes. There is so much to learn and to pass on. So many things that used to be taught (tin-type, etc) just aren't anymore and those techniques still have use as part of creating a unique image.
Of course, its my meetup group. So, yes I agree.
I'm a native of Carmel and have been photographing since 1978. My interest in the art was sparked at the age of four by the gift of a camera from my Dad. By the age of 20, I moved to large format cameras and alternative photographic techniques.
This group has grown tremendously from its very humble beginnings. The hallmark of the group is being mellow, have fun, and just shoot. This was the first trip I did not organize and run and sitting back and watching some of our charter members run with that motto and run a great trip just proves we have a great thing going here. These guys and gals are the kind of people I want to photograph with and to be honest are the types of people I want to hang out with outside of just being in the field.
