Welcome to the NYC Fundraising/Event Planning Meetup Group

Hello:

I would like to start a group that focuses on planning events to support different community groups in the NYC area. Each month (or every few months) we would focus on a different low-income community issue in NYC, and we could have a fundraiser or event to support the issue.

I envision this group to be people who want to help out, and who want to plan and do many different things to help low-income and immigrant New Yorkers succeed. As an eclectic group of individuals, we can pool our resources to plan the events such as finding space, sponsors, etc. We can also bring research on issues that we see raised in the NYC area that we would like to support and then use our collective resources to see how we can best help.

I have been thinking of ways to not only volunteer in the NY community, but to actually plan events that I think would make an impact. Because there are many different areas I want to help out in, I don't want to focus my meetup on one specific issue or genre. I hope that there are likeminded people who want to do the same and I truly welcome your input into how to make this a successful group.
