Futurism has gotten a lot of attention, mostly because of Ray Kurzweil's popularization of the concept of the singularity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity). But others, like Philip Tetlock (http://nyr.kr/vt8C7c) claim that our ability to predict the future is too poor (http://www.amazon.com/Philip-Tetlock-Better-Forecasters-Hedgehogs/dp/B000V76TYS) to be of any use; and noted author Dan Gardner, which refers to it as Future Babble. So, which is it? Science? Pseudo-science? Something else?
