January Discussion Dinner: MOOCs

What is higher education really all about? If it's just about acquiring knowledge then perhaps MOOCs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massive_open_online_course) (Massive Open Online Courses), like those given by Coursera (https://www.coursera.org/), are a good alternative to increasingly expensive college tuition. But many questions remain: what is the quality of these courses? Are they appropriate for all fields of study? And ultimately, what are the relative merits of a classroom vs. an online education. Join us, in person, to discuss this and other education related topics.

A note on the fee to attend this meetup. First of all, if you are a NYC Skeptics member we will refund your fee or, if you prefer, email us and we will RSVP for you.
