Hello all, Some of you may remember Howard who came on a Muttshack transport and is a Katrina survivor. He was so sick when he arrived he had to have an operation to have a stomach tube placed and I had to feed him by a syringe directly into his stomach. He did great. This "plain, sick black cat" that they asked if I would take at the last minute became a part of my heart. He has the biggest sense of humor. So sweet.

Last night I found him collapsed in his litter box w a low temp. Finances are minimal at this time and I could not afford to take him to the emergency clinic, which weighed heavy on me. I called my vet and have directed meds. I held him in bed all night. It seemed like maybe an ear infection had spread. Or, he has a heart murmur. He seemed to improve this morning and could hold his head up. Then, a few hours ago, he started crying and panting. I took him to my vet who I had already talked to. I knew at this time euthanasia probably would be the only choice. The vet felt it was neurological, not heart but just guessing without tests. Choice was euthanasia or give him a chance. I stood there staring at him for 15 mins. I knew the rational thing to do. But, I couldn't do it. He looked at me and squeezed my hand with his paw. So I'm giving him a chance which will cost $150 for the night. Now I need to find $150. As I was driving up to the vet, crying I'll admit, a lot, I called my mom. My Dad answered instead and started beating me up that this animal care has to stop. That I need to abandon the farm. I needed that.

If anyone can help, please call Animal Medical Services at [masked]. Just for one chance for Howard.

Thank you,
Kristina Rieck

Kitty by bank on the way to West End and Mariners Cove was waiting again. She is lost, all alone, homeless now, but so affectionate! I picked her up and carried her away from my car to the food on the sidewalk up by bank and bushes where she eats. She is so friendly, for sure she had a home with people. I think someone dropped her there.

Diane,
Last week or two I found a very lost-looking cat in parking lot of a Lakeview bank at night. She looked scared, lost, very hungry. So I fed her. I started feeding her every night, and she waits for me now. I think she was trapped from some neighborhood and dropped there in Lakeview.  She seems totally lost, but is a sweet cat. Thin, small, female, with black rings in fur and spots on underside.  Is anyone missing a cat?? Could have been dumped here.  She doesn't want me to leave her.  She wants company and love more than food now. Think she was owned. Loves to be petted. Here she is rolling on the ground. All the pictures I have of her are dark. It is always getting dark out when I feed.

Hello Ms.Michell,
I think your group is a wonderful cause to advocate for! My name is Amrit and I'm a Metairie resident looking for a lost cat. His name is Louis, he's a very small two year old all black, with green eyes. He's very very friendly and playful. He has a ticked ear, and is microchipped. He's also an indoor cat, and so I'm certain he's quite frightened. He's certainly missed. He's been gone about 3 weeks now, and I just haven't been able to give up on finding him. If you have any recommendations please share! Are there any cat colonies I could check? I live on the service road between Target and Whole Foods. Thank you so much for your help and for keeping an eye out,
Amrit Moore

I lost my siamese cat (blue point) male around 9pm on 7/24/13.  He is an indoor cat and has never been allowed out doors.  We recently moved to [300 block] Central ave and have been there for approximately 2 weeks.  He got out the front door.  His sister Harriet misses him as do I and jason.  He has gray markings,  silver-gray paws, ears, tail and gray-white body.  He is 9 years old.  His name is Ozzie.  If you know of anyone who found him in this area, Please contact me at 504- 831-6824, 920-0286 (Jason) or 303-9410.  We miss him.  We use to live at Audubon Trace Condominium and have check there as well to see if he went back home.
Please notify me if you or someone finds him.
Thanks,
Patty

It was on airline driving towards Ascension parish right past the boat club at blind river. Middle of no where! I think this would still be considered St. James Parish? …

Sunday, my boyfriend and I found a puppy on side of Airline hwy in the tall grass near the water. The puppy is a female and is VERY thin. We have taken her home since no shelters were open on Sunday. We have her separated from our pets because we don't know if she has any worms, mange, etc. Together we own three dogs and two cats and are financially unable to care for a sixth animal's veterinary care. I am attempting to contact rescues because we are reluctant to turn her into a shelter. She appears to be a pit mix. With her poor condition, we are afraid she may not be given a chance. Please let me know if you can help or if you can suggest any other organizations to help us with this poor, sweet girl. Her picture is attached.

Thank you,
Sarah Sassin
