Garden update #2:
It was a great day to work on the roof today. I turned the compost bins, mixed up the 40 lb bag of dried manure/humus and got my hands dirty (ok - I wore gloves, but you get the idea).
I top-dressed all plants with dried manure and the rich compost I scored in NJ. I finished up with Fish-emulsion fertilizer - smells disgusting, but works great (just don't get any on your clothes - ugggh).
Everything in the Greenhouse is growing great, including the hard-to-find Fairy Tale eggplant seedlings I picked up at the BBG sale last week.
It was so hot in the greenhouse that most of the tomato plants started flowering, even though they are all still small. I cut all the flowers off so the plants would expend energy on growing leaves and getting taller, instead of spending energy on fruit.
I transplanted some of the seedlings I grew inside from seed - to pots, and put in the greenhouse.
I also planted lots of bulbs and wild flowers to try and attract more bee's to my rooftop.
Stuff I'm growing:
Tomatoes, Peppers, Chile Peppers, Eggplants, Pak Choy, Mesclun, Arugala, Broccoli Raab, Micro greens, Watermellon, cantelope, cuke's, Haricot Vert beans, Ground Cherry's, garlic chives, herbs (all kinds), wildflowers, sedum (thanks Genata!), day lilly's, purple Iris, Gomphrena flowers, Lavender.
Also - I had previously planted lots of wildflower seeds and other flowering seeds in the treebeds in my 'nabe - Lots of seedlings are emerging. stay tuned for the before and after pics .
