Sat, July 31st - CASA Boogie at Skydive LI

Hi, all!
Carlos had a great idea and we're rolling with it. Next weekend, there's a CASA Boogie at Skydive Long Island. For those that are new to this sport, a "boogie" is basically a skydiving party, and a CASA is a large plane with a rear ramp exit so it's one of the more popular skydiving planes. Here's a video of a jump from a CASA, in case you're interested:

It looks like it'll be a fun boogie, with sunset beach jumps and helicopter jumps as well as a luau and live music on Saturday evening. Here are the details:

CASA Boogie '10

*Free-Fly & RW Organizing
*Casa, Grand Caravan & King Air
*Sunset Beach Jumps all weekend
*Free Camping & Showers
*Music, BBQ & BEER Daily

If you are doing a tandem (if it's your first time, then you'll be doing a tandem jump attached to an instructor), you'll need to call the dropzone and make a tandem reservation for any time after 11am. Skydive Long Island's number is [masked]. Do be prepared to wait - sometimes there are a lot of tandem reservations, so bring something to read or do (they do have wifi).

If this is your first time, please read our FAQ: Skydive questions answered! The basics. -- it will answer most questions you might have about what to wear, cost, etc.

We'll get to Skydive Long Island early and leave late. Plan to be there all day. We're a fun group - we'll keep you occupied! There's also the possibility of camping, so if you wish, you can stay sat night and leave on sunday. If you'd like to do that, please indicate, so we can get an idea of how many people would like to do that and what the transport logistics would be.

There is a $25 transportation fee that must be paid when you RSVP yes. We may give partial refunds if we find someone to drive their own car and some of our members to/from the DZ. We would of course reimburse the driver for gas and tolls. If we have to rent a car we will split the cost of the car rental, gas and tolls equally. This may mean that you get a couple of dollars back, or you may need to pay an extra couple of dollars.

Want to volunteer to drive some of our members? Let us know how many people you can take in your car. Your transportation fee will, of course, be waived. Planning to get there on your own and don't want to share transportation with anyone? Let us know and we can waive the $25 fee. But we have to warn you: it is much more fun to go as a group!

More details to follow.

Blue skies!
