We are forming a NEW Optimist Club in Scottsdale! Optimist International is an association of more than 2,900 Optimist Clubs around the world dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids." Adult volunteers join Optimist Clubs to conduct positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. With their upbeat attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young people to be the best that they can be. Each Optimist Club determines the needs of the young people in its community and conducts programs to meet those needs. Every year, Optimists conduct 65,000 service projects and serve well over six million young people.
About Optimism
Meeting the needs of young people in communities worldwide, Optimist Clubs have been “Bringing Out the Best in Kids” since 1919. Optimist Clubs conduct positive service projects aimed at providing a helping hand to youth.
The Optimist Creed:
Promise Yourself:
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
Chartering a New Club
The new Old Town Scottsdale Optimist Club will be formed when we have at least 15 charter members.
The "veteran" Optimists attend our meetings to give us support and encouragement in the formation of our club. Our board of directors will be formed by us, the charter members, and the projects we perform will be those which we choose within our own club.
We also have the privilege to invite others to become volunteers/members of our group, and we'll be able to form our club & start working on projects to help our local kids sooner if invite friends and acquaintances to join us as charter members.
How to Join
Contact Us - Attend a Meeting - then: Complete the application form and write a check for $35.00 payable to "Optimist Club". The checks will not be cashed until we charter.
