Placerita Canyon Waterfall Hike

This hike is at the location of California's first actual gold rush (though small), which began in 1842, six years before the famous one at Sutter's Mill. In addition to that bit of historical trivia, it is widely known that a great many western movies and television programs have been filmed in the canyon.

From the Nature Center where we will meet (link (http://www.placerita.org/index.html)), we will be taking the Placerita Canyon Trail two miles to the ruins of the Walker Ranch, which is where we'll turn onto the Waterfall Trail for an additional 3/4 of a mile to the small, 15' waterfall itself. We will return by the same route.

Dogs: yes, but leashed

Known Dangers: There is a lot of poison oak in this area, so please wear long pants and stay on the trails. The plant oils can remain on your clothing, so it would be advisable to handle it with care and wash your clothing immediately after the hike. I will bring a bottle of Tecnu just in case someone does get into it.
