Hump Day PM Hike: Caballero Canyon Loop

This location should be accessible to anyone in the SF Valley and even LA. We'll begin the hike ascending a ridge trail that has some steep sections on a steady climb for a mile. This may be too hard for beginners. Reaching the top, we will follow Mulholland Fire Road a wee bit further to view the Encino Reservoir and catch a glimpse of the not-too-far Nike missile site (where Russ led a hike). Then we'll go back down the fire road until it links up with the actual Caballero Cyn trail taking us back to our vehicles.

Just in case this takes longer than anticipated, please bring a flashlight or headlamp for the last portion of this hike.

Important Note: Make sure you go to the trailhead ON Reseda, NOT at the end of Reseda further up the road. Click the location link for the exact location, and see trailhead pic below.

Distance: 4 miles
Elevation Gain: 850'
Difficulty: Intermediate
Dogs: No because part of this is inside a State Park boundary
Restrooms: No
Water Fountain: No
Parking: Free, just park right on Reseda
Trail: Mostly single track, some fire road
Sunset: 8:09 pm with ambient light for 30 mins

Known Dangers: Rattlesnakes, slip-'n-fall
