Let's watch the July 4 Simi Valley fireworks from the BEAUTIFUL Hummingbird Trail. I'm sure we aren't the only ones with this bright idea, so I'm positive we'll be sharing the viewing area with others, but it is large and there should be enough room. However, parking may be tight if a lot of others are there too, so if you cannot find a spot just North of the 118, go to the little shopping area on the other side of the 118, and walk the short half mile to meet up with us. I would recommend showing up early to avoid any problem.http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/a/e/4/e/event_247184622.jpeg

The starting time is 8 pm, but I will wait a short time and we will leave PROMPTLY at 8:05. If you arrive late, just follow the trail from the trailhead (at the top of the parking area) and you should find us. The viewing area is only about a mile from the trailhead. There will be plenty of light on the way up, but it will be dark on the way down so bring a flashlight or headlamp.

Since the fireworks will obviously not start until it is dark (sunset is at 8:10), we will have ample time to socialize while we wait for the lingering light to dissipate. You may want to bring snacks and something to drink, but DO NOT drink and drive, please!

Known Dangers: Rattlesnakes are always possible on this trail.

Important: This is a night hike so make sure you bring a flashlight for the return trip down, water (or other beverage of your choice), snacks, a significant other, and always remember to leave NO TRACE of your presence when you leave. If you get cold easily, bring a jacket. There may be a breeze at this location.

THIS WILL BE OUR VIEWING AREA.
