Hump Day New Moon Loop: Los Robles and White Horse Canyon Trails

Details
This night will be a new moon, which will make the night views of the city lights below and the stars above pretty wonderful. We begin with a 1.3 mile single-track section of the Los Robles system to a junction with a wide fire road, which we'll take for about another mile to where it joins up with the White Horse Canyon Trail. From there, we'll make a loop back to a point just above that first junction where there is a bench at the top of a peak. We once interrupted a couple up there who were expecting a nice romantic time with a bottle of wine.
From the bench we'll take a short cut back to the first single-track portion of our hike to the park with our vehicles.
We will start no later than 6:40 pm, so don't be late and use the restrooms BEFORE you get to the trailhead, as they are on the opposite end of the park.
Be sure to bring flashlights or headlamps, as it will be dark before we start.
Distance: 6 miles
Elevation Gain: 1060'
Difficulty: Intermediate
Dogs: Yes, but only if leashed, per State law
Restrooms: Yes, on the east end of the park
Water Fountain: Yes, at the park
Parking: On E and W ends of the park, or on surrounding streets
Trail: Single track and fire road
Sunset: 5:41 pm
Known Dangers: Rattlesnakes, slip-'n-fall is certainly possible as there several sections with loose stones, but the steepest of these will be uphill, which is safer.
Directions: From the 101, take the exit at Hampshire Road and head south. When you get to Triunfo Canyon Road, head AWAY from the 101 (basically SW) and after a short drive you will arrive at Triunfo Community Park on your right. You can't miss it. Turn right onto Tamarack Street, which borders the park, and you can either pull into the first entrance to the park on your left or continue to the west end of the park where you will find additional parking spaces. In the unlikely event that all the parking spots are taken, you can park on Tamarack or other bordering streets around the park. Find the trailhead just off the west-most parking lot on the extreme SW corner of the park.
Here is where we will meet to start the hike on the WEST side of the park:
