PM Hikers 3rd Anniversary Potluck/Hike/Dance with DJ Dr. Detroit

Details
Thursday, July 2 is our actual 3rd anniversary of the PM Hikers, but our "official" celebratory hike will be on Saturday, July 11 at an AMAZING spot. The hike is easy enough for almost anyone to do, even though the elevation gain sounds hard for true beginners. Please read this entire description:
We'll begin with a 2-mile out & back hike that is very easy and which ends at the ruins of an old fire lookout structure with fantastic views of the SF Valley and beyond.

We'll then return to our vehicles, where you can grab your food/drink to share with others, and then we'll begin part 2 which is another, only slightly longer out & back hike to a magical destination that will take your breath away.

Here we will spread our potluck food and drink goodies on the boulders in a natural enclosure of sandstone rock formations, as we wait for the sunset that I have arranged to occur shortly after our arrival.

From this location, we'll kick back and Dance with the Stars to the bluetooth boombox tunes of professional DJ "Dr Detroit", who has agreed to fly in from the Motor City for an encore performance of his first PMH gig that we did in January, and which was wildly popular. Numerous members have requested that we invite the good Doctor again, and he has graciously agreed to join us for this special event.
So bring your food, bring your drinks, put on your sexiest hiking apparel and get ready to ROCK IT, Motown Style, Baby!!!!
Distance: 4.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 900' (but it's spread out over the entire distance, so not hard)
Facilities: No restrooms, no water, so bring your own.
Sunset: 8:09 pm, and it will be dark by 8:40, so BRING A FLASHLIGHT OR HEADLAMP for the trek back to our vehicles.
Food/Drink: Bring something to share with others, anything is good from filet mignon to chips and salsa, and any beverage your heart desires.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you intend to drink, DO NOT DRIVE!!!!! Make sure you carpool with a designated driver. Safety of everyone is an overriding concern.
Known Dangers: We will be on part of the famous Backbone Trail, as well as another trail, and rattlesnakes are always a possibility this time of year, as is slip-'n-fall.
On our short, 1.25 mile hike back to our vehicles you will be treated to the wondrous nighttime view of the Santa Monica beach area down below us. This will truly be an event to tell your great-grandchildren about and perhaps even your attorney.
CARPOOLING IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. USE THE COMMENTS SECTION TO CONNECT AND COORDINATE WITH OTHERS. Share phone/email in private messages, or the scumbag spammers will get them and harass you.
Directions: From the 101 or PCH, take Las Virgenes (same as Malibu Canyon Road, depending on where you get on it) to the stoplight at Mulholland Road. Go eastward from that stoplight a few miles until you get to Stunt Road. WATCH FOR IT on your right! Take Stunt Road up to the TOP, where it meets Shueren Road and where there is a small, very popular Lookout.
Parking: You can park at the very top of Stunt Road (see link above, but DO NOT TRUST YOUR GPS to get you there. My written directions are always accurate.) Parking is free along Stunt Road, and you will be good as long as you pull completely off of Stunt. If parking is already taken at the very top, then just BELOW the top of Stunt, there is LOTS of parking on the north side of Stunt, and from there it's a short walk to the top of Stunt.
