DIFFUSING THE NUCLEAR BOMB: HOW PHILOSOPHY CAN SAVE THE WORLD

World peace is achieved through a complex alliance of power. Not as many assume a balance of power, but an imbalance that maintains one Country over another, one corporation over another. Level playing fields and open markets do not exist for all. There is no such thing as free or open trade.

Peace is only achieved, where all parties understand and accept their position within that hierarchy of relative power.

Today with a declining US dollar, American and Japanese debt at untenable levels, the supremacy of America is beginning to wobble. This with the rise of China and India, is causing all the players to reassess and make contingency plans for a possible breakdown of current alliances.

Where uncertainty over perceived wisdom is at play, all parties may need to re-evaluate themselves along totally different lines.

Back in 1982 when Argentina invaded the Falklands, few would have questioned Britain's ability to impose its will over Argentina. Or if pushed to call upon American support. But with a weakening of British power, a rise in importance of South American resources, the day may come when disputes of this kind re awaken.

The world is full of such disputes. Most of which lay dormant in a network of imbalances that are clear to all. But when the ultimate supremacy looks weak, such disputes have the potential to unravel into global problems.

Furthermore, with a general rise of the East at a time of decline in the west, the problem of ultimate war, becomes more pertinent. Ultimate war being where two parties are perceived to have equal power, and where the outcome of a challenge can only be assessed by war.

Set against this backdrop is America's plan for a "Nuclear Renaissance". Promoted as the answer to global warming and other debatable science, this can be seen as little more than exploitation of a technology that is controlled and leveraged by those who control the war machine, to their economic advantage.
