Re: [french-851] Future of the group?

Salut, Les Copains!
I too am hoping to attend more meetings during those cold cabin fever days of Maine Winter!
I am in favor of keeping in touch through e-mail after the Meet-up fees run out.  We will lose the ability to attract new members but I am sure there are other free listings elsewhere.  For instance, do the high school French teachers of Maine have a newsletter that might be willing to list this group?  And perhaps a poster/flyer about the group could be put up at the French school in Freeport...?
May I suggest also that the Portland Museum of Art ( I recently saw the Princesse de Montespan there) and the Frontier Cafe in Brunswick often have French films.  I would be willing to send info about such films to the e-mail list when I hear of them if anyone is interested in perhaps attending at the same time... and maybe even having a meal afterwards to discuss the film?
Many thanks to Nancy for creating the group and to all who have put in energy to keep it going....

Barbara

Subject: [french-851] Future of the group?

Salut tout le monde!

Some of you probably saw that Nancy is no longer going to be the official organizer for the group and that she has paid for us to stay on the meet up website until December.

I offered to be the new organizer but I'm not interested in paying for the fees associated with keeping the group in the site. Unless somebody wants to take completely over in this way, I would like to suggest an email-based communication (or maybe even a facebook group?) to organize future meet ups.

If you think you would be interested in this, please let me know and I will add you to my list.  Likewise, if you are interested in running the site, contact Nancy!

One of my ideas is to vary the day of the week the group meets and maybe up the frequency, this way if you can't make it one day you don't have to wait a whole month to get your French practice in :)  But that's just an idea for now...still trying to figure out the organization piece first!

Feel free to let me know your thoughts on a switch of this nature...

merci :)
Andi
