If one word could summarize Tilly it would be mellow. Tziz Shu's were bred to be loyal companions and lap dogs for members of the Chinese royal court. True to her breeding she is a fine lap dog but does not understand a word of Chinese. Each morning Tilly takes me for a walk around our Multnomah Village neighborhood. Tilly loves several village shops but her very favorite is the Fat City Cafe where the owner, Helen, gives Tilly a small bit of ham in exchange for a flurry of excited face licks. Tilly is in the process of becoming a certified therapy dog through Therapy Dogs, Inc. She has undergone a rather rigorous testing by an evaluator and passed with flying colors. Tilly and I need to visit three facilities under the supervision of the evaluator and then we will be able to work independently. Tilly was truly born to this type of work. As for the need to be wine loving fur-parents, at four P.M. of each day my wife and I toast Tilly with a glass of newly poured wine.
I am an old geezer (79) with a young (18 months) Shih Tzu and Maltese (?) mix that came to us as a rescue dog one year ago. Tilly is the light of our lives. My wife is a new person now that she has someone other than grandchildren to fuss over.
Tilly and I very much enjoyed our first Meetup event at a wine tasting in the basement of a facility in a NE Portland neighborhood. Tilly was excited to meet the equally smaller dogs who are members of this group. I am thinking of organizing a meetup at an indoor location I have in mind, but must check first to see if such an event is possible at this site. If there is a positive response to my request I will post details in the near future.
