What we’re about

Have you ever imagined the end of the world? Do you have a zombie survival strategy, a cache of secret supplies or a loaded cross bow? If you answered yes to any of these questions then you need to join this group (and possibly seek psychological assistance) Come along and enjoy some lively discussion about a varied and fantastical list of books. Everyone is welcome from the casual reader to the most informed doomsday preppers.

The triumphant return of the always popular short story contest! It will be almost two years since contest number 12, so hopefully there's a lot of pent-up creative energy ready to go.

Time to stretch your creative muscles and write your very own post-apocalyptic short story. This is always a great night, and it's always nice to see what you creative bunch come up with. We will be upstairs at the Lass at usual.

Entries must be submitted by 11th May, to the below portal:

Entries can be up to 1500 words long (maximum, not a goal :P).

After the stories are read out on the night, we all vote anonymously on our favourites and the winner is covered in glory and will get a mystery prize (no guarantees, but it’s very likely to be book vouchers).

Prizes will only be available for those writers who attend on the night and only one prize will be available per writer.

If we get loads of entries we reserve the right to deputise some form of judging panel in order to limit the number of stories read out on the night to a reasonable number.

We’ll be looking for volunteers to read stories nearer the time. Listeners are also more than welcome to attend.

Making and bringing along cake is highly encouraged!
