How to Get Started.

For those new to this new social medium, this group will provide you with the steps needed to start podcasting. And for those already immersed in this online, audio explosion, we hope to create a forum in which podcasters can ask questions, share ideas and learn from the experiences of others.

Each month we'll explore the latest in podcasting hardware and software and discuss the issues which affect us all like finding guests, growing our audience and securing sponsors. We'll also explore how local podcasters are using this new medium to meet people, start conversations and share stories and information, thereby creating online communities and "building their personal brand" in the process by showing the world "what they know" and "who they know".

For if the purpose of all social media is to simply "start a conversation", then what could be easier or more powerful than simply talking to interesting people, capturing those conversations and sharing them with others?

We'll look at the difference between "audio" and "video" and the different ways in which both are evolving. And we'll also look at the overall media revolution taking place as traditional "broadcasting" gives way to "narowcasting" instead. As ordinary individuals start thinking of themselves as "media companies" and begin creating compelling content in direct competition to the traditional media conglomerates.

People to people communication. Creating new, narrowly focused communities thru the magic of online, "community radio" , whether that's streamed live (like traditional radio) or archived on the internet as downloadable 30-60 minute audio programs (ie-"podcasts") That's what this Meetup intends to stimulate, explore and support.
