In scientific research, Biology, chemistry and other natural sciences the “lab” is the best place to conduct controlled experiments. Manipulating variables and factors that may impact the outcome of any particular study can help avoid false determinants, false positives and false negatives and arrive at accurate conclusions. In the Social Sciences, the lab is also useful and can be a good environment to conduct a plethora of experiments on human behavior. However, many of the fluid, impermanent and uncontrolled variables that influence social behavior and dynamics, cannot be simulated in controlled and sterile laboratory settings. At The PsyTech Group we observe human behaviour from a different vantage point, which is the Social Sphere. Our experimental settings are the streets, crowded malls, busy restaurants and houses where people, can interact and behave naturally. Please Join us to openly discuss socio-psychological principles and ideas like communications, deception, expectation and behaviour. We will talk about influence and control and the mechanisms that make it work. We will also venture into myth and religion and why we choose to believe in the many things we do.
