If you're here, it's because you're an avid yet disgruntled reader. Maybe you're sick and tired of joining groups that only read books you devoured in 8th grade. Maybe you wanted to read a challenging book and have an intellectual but casual discussion with new friends and like-minded individuals. Maybe the sudden appearance of enormous chick flick sections in your local bookstore has got you grinding your teeth at night. Maybe you just need a good excuse to get a little tipsy and eat great carb-loaded food with fun people (we're not here to judge). In any case, this group is for those people looking to stimulate their mind and expand their social network.
Every month we'll get together to discuss a critically lauded book, eat some fabulous Queens fare, and get to know one another. Since the summer's coming, BBQs are more than welcome - you supply the backyard, and we'll bring the nosh.
For all of you Grinches facing a bad economy and a crummy, surprisingly temperate holiday, please join me for a book swap on December 15, 2009. Bring as many books as you like, and exchange novels/ideas with your fellow Queens Literati. Santa/The Hanukkah Man is watching, so feel free to make this a "BOOK GIVING" instead! Read more
