Integrating Django & NoSQL

Given the different structure of big data systems, they can be difficult to query, and even more difficult to explore. Hue, a Django-drive web application, integrates with these components and provides a clean, easy-to-use interface. In this discussion, we'll cover how the Hue project addressed communicating with Hbase, Hdfs, and various query engines. We'll also cover the reasons behind these design decisions.

Abe's Bio:

Abe Elmahrek is a software engineer on the platform team at Cloudera. He primarily focuses on the Hue project, the Hadoop User Experience, but also contributes to the Sqoop project.

Hey all, I am the guy that gave the lighting talk about auto generating truly RESTful APIs and the admins out of the Django models.
    here's my for of django-extensions:
(this is the file to describe the admin:,
and this one to describe the apis:

and this is the PR that I have for django-tastypie to add the describe_api command. As you can see they asked me to add tests which I have not had time to do, so if you feel generous and awesome feel free to add tests to this branch and commit/comment so that we can finally merge this branch into tastypie. Also as I mentioned I work at AdRoll, and if you feel are a good Pythonista and tired of your current job, shoot me a message to [masked] or [masked]

I work on the Hue project at Cloudera. It's a Django driven web application that interfaces with HDFS, HBase, etc. I've also been involved in DAL construction with HBase in other projects. If you'd like, I could talk about what we do in Hue and some of the challenges with HBase/Hive?

I have been doing Django with mysql up to now, but it would be good to learn about other options.

Do we have a proposed speaker to talk about Django & NoSQL? If so I can look to find a place to host this in early 2014. Feel free to shoot me an email if anyone's interested.
