Cheating Your Way to #Webscale

Abstract:

Both Disqus and Sentry are very large Python/Django applications that see a relatively enormous amount of web traffic. Interestingly enough, Disqus and Sentry both have polar opposite needs when it comes to scaling. Disqus is very read heavy, and Sentry is very write heavy. I will be comparing and contrasting the different approaches each product uses to handle their respective loads and explain how these concepts can be applied to your own web applications. Spoiler alert: it involves a lot of cheating!

Matt Robenolt:

Lead operations engineer at Disqus and core contributor to Sentry.
