Lessons Learned Using PostgreSQL w/ Django by Matt Doka
Using PostgreSQL with Django is a good primary datastore choice when building a first django app. However, as the app grows, and the size of the data set balloons, it's easy to overburden postgres to the point of failure.
At FiveStars, we've encountered a lot of these hurdles, and we'd like to share some common, as well as uncommon, mistakes that one can avoid in using Django's Postgres ORM. Additionally, we'll discuss strategies for debugging a poorly performing Postgres, and finally share some thoughts on how to better prepare for a quickly growing postgres.
