Speaker: Neil McKenzie, Windows Azure MVP

SQL Azure Federations is a new feature providing horizontal scale-out to a SQL Azure database. Using SQL Azure Federations, database solutions are able to gain the performance and data-capacity benefits of data sharding while benefiting from the managed Platform-as-a-Service environment provided by SQL Azure.

You'll learn:

  • The reasons for federating a SQL Azure database
  • How to implement a solution using SQL Azure Federations
  • How to manage a federated database using the Windows Azure Portal and SSMS

Neil Mackenzie is an Azure Architect at Satory Global helping companies move onto the Windows Azure platform. Neil has been kicking the tires of Windows Azure since PDC 2008. He wrote the Microsoft Windows Azure Development Cookbook, published by Packt Publishing. Neil is a Microsoft MVP for Windows Azure.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
