What is your preferred genre?

I prefer science fiction, although I do dabble in light fantasy and (most recently) in Steampunk. I like 'fish out of water' type stories, as well as those where events are triggered by something that has been overlooked.

How long have you been writing?

I have been writing all of my life. My earliest work was a radio play I made in 5th grade. I continued writing fan fiction and some original stuff through school, and have concentrated on two science fiction series, one set in modern times and one several hundred years in the future. Some of my Doctor Who fan fiction was published for a convention.

What other types of writing do you enjoy?

Other than science fiction, I enjoy writing reviews, science topics, and technical writing. At my last permanent job, I was tasked with writing the ISO 9000 procedures for shipping, receiving, and inventory controls.

Have you ever been published?

Other than for a Doctor Who convention, no.

Introduction

I have lived in Sarasota on and off since 1973, and went to school here ( RHS & MCC). I was a Navy electrician and now I am trying to finish my engineering degree. I am divorced with no children, though I do have 3 cats and a parrot.

What Tanz S. is saying about this Meetup Group

I like the meetup group. Even though I am new to the group, I feel welcome and at home with them. I have met about 12 of the 40 people so far, and look forward to meeting with and discussing ideas with all of the members. About half of the ones I've met so far seem to concentrate on poetry, which is not one of my areas of knowledge, but it is interesting nonetheless.
