Data Mining Meets Engineering

This month we will discuss Social Media Analytics case studies and how data miners and analysts can work together with engineers to implement full-scale production systems. Coming out of this talk, those who work with engineers on production systems will gain appreciation for the long term implications of prototyping decisions and engineers will gain insight on how to communicate potential implementation challenges.

The June 4th Seattle BI Meetup will again be held at Big Fish Games. The presentation will begin at 6:00pm with time for networking and dinner before and after.

About the Speaker

Lucas Parker is a bespectacled, curmudgeonly engineer who works on the Visible Intelligence platform at Visible Technologies where he helps to make sure that billions of records of enriched data, tens of millions new each day, are available for immediate consumption. He digs problems involving large scale systems, classification and formal languages. He likes beer goggle sunsets and short walks to the fridge.

There are about 20 spots in the lot in front of the building. Please use the spots marked for Big Fish rather than Classmates/Memory Lane. If there are no spots available, there are spots on the street and parking garages east of Elliott toward the Seattle Center.

The 33/24 buses from downtown have stops very close to the office. The D/8/13/1 buses have stops about a 6 minute walk from the office.
