What we’re about

Welcome! We're glad you found us. Seattle Single Parents aims to provide support and connection to families where the parents are not in the same house. Here you'll find a wonderful mixture of young and experienced parents as well as kids from newborn to pre-adult, all in similar family situations. We're here to offer friendship, network, share ideas, support each other, plan group events, etc. - the possibilities are endless! We invite you and your children to join us to get active in the Puget Sound area!

**Who is this group for?**

Parents who are parenting without being in a partnership relationship with their child's other parent. In this group you will find parents who are separated or divorced, were never married to their child's other parent, and are single parents by choice

We welcome parents of children ages 0-18. We also welcome single parents-to-be who are in their third trimester.

**Is this a dating group?**

NO!! This is **NOT** a dating group. We welcome people looking for friendship, to socialize, and find to support through their solo/single parenting journey.

Single does not refer to a relationship status in this group. If this is what you are looking for, this likely not be the group for you. There are plenty of dating sites out there to provide that social outlet. That being said, chemistry is natural and people may date but that is not the primary focus of this group.

**Why use the term 'Single Parent' when this isn't a dating group?**

'Single Parent' is a legacy term for people who are parenting without being in a partnership relationship with their child's other parent. We prefer the term 'solo parent' but use the legacy term since that is the common reference in society.

**What geographic area does this group cover?**

You will find people from throughout the Seattle metro area. Our far boundaries include Everett (North), Auburn (South), Snoqualmie Pass (East), Bainbridge Island (West).

If you are in the far south sound area, our sister group Tacoma Single Parents may be a better fit for you.

**What are the membership expectations?**

We ask that you attend at least one event per year to maintain your membership within the group. There are also fees associated with running our group through the Meetup site. We host an annual Pass The Hat fundraiser to cover the cost of the site. Each member is encouraged to give as they are able at least $1 to help with these costs.

**What types of events are hosted? How often are events hosted?**

Events are hosted by our members. Some are family friendly and some are parents only. Events are hosted as often as members choose to host them.
