Want to keep those writing muscles flexible and challenged? Then join us for a fun, varied, and motivating “circuit” of writing activities! Whether you’re just beginning the creative process, trying to break through a case of writer's block, or looking for a fresh angle on a work-in-progress, this group may offer useful prompts, new approaches, unexpected discoveries, and general inspiration. We’ll work through guided exercises that help us generate ideas, explore imagery, experiment with language, refine a character, structure or restructure plot -- and, of course, take the all-important step of putting pen to paper!
Please note: the purpose of this group is not primarily to offer critique, so you might want to consider another venue if you’re looking for feedback on an existing draft. We’ll focus instead on the excitement of experimentation and the discipline of practice, as we hunt for new tools to supercharge our writing, while becoming more proficient with the ones we already have. Some activities will be specific to fiction writing; however, writers of all genres, including poetry, are welcome.
Another blast from the past! If you didn't catch this one the first time around, here's your chance... and if you were there last year, see how different the results can be on a second try!
Join us for an hour of focused writing practice (12:00-1:00), as we work on generating and refining active, interesting characters. I've got some unusual, sneaky, and inventive prompts to help us along. Read more

“ If we had a bigger venue (with better parking for those of us who drive!) it is a great way to flex your writing muscle amongst other writers in a safe environment. ”
