In our first meetup, we will have a short presentation on the basics of Windows 8 Development using the pre release tools Microsoft released at BUILD. You can see plenty of videos release from BUILD at this URL: http://www.buildwindows.com/ I strongly suggest watching "8 traits of great Metro style Apps" (http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/BUILD/BUILD2011/BPS-1004) which is a good overview, and then "Using the Windows Runtime from JavaScript" (http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/BUILD/BUILD2011/TOOL-533T). Then, we will have a panel of experts (or at least people who know a lot more than you do about Windows 8 Metro) lead an open discussion.
I'm hugely excited about the new opportunities we as developers have now with Windows 8 Metro Development. Having just gotten back from Anneheim and the BUILD conference, I am more engergized about Microsoft development than I have been in a long time.
