About Qigong

Oprah Winfrey’s favorite M.D., Dr. Oz points out on her internationally viewed show, “If you want to live to 100… do Qigong” and that “Qigong is the best longevity exercise”.  There are thousands of scientific studies that show Qigong has helped many people to significantly reduce stress and cortisol levels (cortisol is known as the stress hormone), combat heart disease, cancer, boost immune system function, improve balance, lower blood pressure, modulate disorders of mood and so much more.

The word “Qi” in Qigong means energy or life force, and gong, means work or skill. It is a mind-body practice that re-harmonizes the body and enhances the flow of qi energy to all parts of the body. By integrating posture, body movements, deep releasing techniques, breathing and focused intention, this practice is designed to improve both mental and physical health.

There are well over 5,000 forms of Qigong with each having a different and unique focus, each with varied indications. Medical qigong for example focuses primarily on improving Qi to strengthen the body's organs, tissues and systems such as stomach, liver, heart, kidneys, respiratory system, etc., for the purpose of achieving optimal health and lessening the effects of aging.

Many people today are struggling with stress and what I call “hurry sickness” - and the effects are measurable in the body. A 20-year study by Kaiser Permanente found that between 70 and 85 percent of illness sending patients to their doctors were rooted in unmanaged stress. In our classes, Pon Klie Zen Qigong helps to clear stress related contractions from the body and restores inner harmony. Also, teachers in our system provide highly effective tools to help one stay open, centered and free of inner contraction during real world challenges in daily life. With P.K. "mindfulness" inner practice, one also learns how to untie inner knots and clear out old unsupportive thought patterns, outdated feelings and beliefs that affect our Vital Qi energy.
