About Springfield Roleplayers

Springfield Roleplayers is a meetup group for gamers in the central Illinois area. We meet monthly to find new friends, talk about gaming, put players with GMs, and maybe have a game or two. Roleplaying is a fun and rewarding hobby, but finding new players can be a real pain.

I decided to start this group because I wanted to expand my gamer social network. I've met a lot of gamers, both in my small home town, here in Springfield, on the internet, and at gatherings like Gen Con. Overall, I've been impressed with the people in this hobby. We are an outgoing, outspoken, and sometimes opinionated bunch, but we can always have some fun with some good gaming. More than half of a good game is the people in it being on the same page, so the larger the group is the better people will be able to form gaming groups.

So that's all it is. I'm not selfless or anything - I wanted to meet gamers. There wasn't a meetup group, so I started one. I'm having a ball so far, look forward to seeing this group grow and prosper.
