Looking for other book lovers? A good story is even better when you've got friends to share it with.
With all the great books about music that have come out recently, I thought it would be a good idea to come together and read and discuss them with other people. We might also explore listening to the music that's covered in the books, and sharing our opinions on it.
Some of the books I'd like to cover are "The Rest is Noise," by Alex Ross, and "This Is Your Brain on Music," by Daniel J. Levitin, "Musicophilia," by Oliver Sacks, and "The World in Six Songs," also by Levitin.
If you know of any other books about music that you'd like to read and discuss, please let us know about them and if possible, bring a copy to the meeting.
We will be choosing the next book to read. I'll be bringing along a selection of books to choose from and you can check out the files on our website to see if anything piques your interest. We can discuss the last book read, "The Piano Shop on the Left Bank" by Thad Carhart, if you haven't discussed it before.
I look forward to seeing all of you Friday night, October 16, 2009 at the Colonnade at 6 PM. Read more
