Topic 1: Ending Your Code Deployment Nightmares

Christian will be kicking off the night with his presentation "Ending your code deployment nightmares". This presentation was recently given at the Magento Imagine conference in Las Vegas.

Whoever can get their new features, bug fixes and updates into the market fastest, gains the competitive advantage. However, most online retailers work with complex, clustered environments, making rapid code deployments a risky practice. A failed deployment can negatively impact sales, waste resources and destroy consumer confidence in your product. That’s why workflows are often complicated, overly cautious and painfully slow. What’s needed is a whole new way of working, where a continuous and reliable workflow isn’t compromised by the infrastructure underneath.

Speaker: Christian Larsen (https://au.linkedin.com/pub/christian-larsen/5b/204/2a9)

“Anything that can happen will happen, so be ready. When things break, it shouldn’t matter!” Christian’s obsession with availability comes from 9 years’ experience in GNU/Linux systems administration and consulting services. Today, he architects highly available and scalable hosting infrastructures for Anchor’s global clients, helping developers achieve the same for their applications. Previously, Christian led the team behind the infrastructure for Testflight—Apple’s iOS application testing platform—as it grew to 100 times its previous size.

Topic 2: Pandas, Penguins and Hummingbirds. Using Magento to Tame the Digital Ecosystem.

Mark will walk you through the basics of the different modules (Panda, Penguin and Hummingbird) within the Google Algorithm and show how to optimise your magento settings through the use of the configuration panel and extensions.

Speaker: Mark Binns (https://au.linkedin.com/in/markbinns)

Mark is Digital Marketing Manager at Acidgreen, who are certified Magento and Google Partners. With experience both Client and Agency side, Mark has a proven track record of helping clients to grow their business online through SEO, SEM and CRO.

Over the years, our team has worked with many global brands and dev agencies—each with at least one code deployment horror story to share. Faulty code deployments are the number one cause of Magento performance issues and downtime. Mistakes happen to even the most experienced DevOps team, which is why Anchor developed a powerful new Magento hosting platform—Fleet (http://anchorfleet.com/).
