Build an iOS and Android app in a day!

This workshop serves as an introduction to using LiveCode for mobile devices (with a quick run trot through LiveCode for desktop - and if time - a brief go with LiveCode Server).

We'll take you through:

• making a simple messaging app on a desktop

• deploying it to an Android device

• deploying it to an iOS device

And if we have time, setting up a web service to work with the app (if we don't you can continue to use the tutor's web service).

This awesome app + web service will mean you can send private messages just to people who have an installed copy of your app on their mobile device or desktop.

We have some MESH members who are parents of young children who are more interested in making something their kids to use - so if you don't like the idea of a messaging app we can also support participants making their own version of 'Tumble Tap' [we are not lawyers so please don't sue us if this name is copyrighted]

I'm Dave Kilroy and have been running my software company for 9 years and coding with LiveCode (http://livecode.com) for about 6. Before I wrote code for money I was a business advisor and before that a cabinetmaker. I like making things, whether in wood or electrons - and I like being around smart friendly people.

NOTE - deploying apps to mobile devices

Apart from having LiveCode installed on your computer deploying apps to iOS and Android devices depends on many things such as your operating system, the development tools for iOS and Android installed on your computer - and the mobile device itself. If you are not clear about what is needed it would be best if you contacted the tutor BEFORE the workshop to make preparations.
