Become the Change You Want to See in the World

This group intends to gather like-minded individuals seeking a change in our world based on the tenets of Jacque Fresco's Venus Project and the Zeitgeist Movement. Please click on the Files tab on the left for agendas from previous meetings and some other useful information.

For new members who are not familiar with the Zeitgeist Movement, it arose from a film entitled 'Zeitgeist: Addendum' which focused on certain aspects of our planet that most of us are unfamiliar with, despite the influence these subjects have on our lives.

The film has three parts - first, the film explores the nature of the monetary system and discusses how money is governed and injected into our economy through the fractional reserve banking system (no need to have taken an economics course to understand this stuff).

The second piece examines the enormous debt prevalent in most 3rd world countries and details the causes and drastic consequences that have resulted. This section also explores political assasinations and touches upon the primary reasons for major military engagements that have occurred over time, including Iraq.

The third part of the film presents a solution to these problems by introducing the Venus Project which promotes a resource-based economy. This section discusses technologies ranging from alternative energies to high-speed transportation that can make overseas travel by airplane a method of the past. This section aims to prove the world can have abundant resources with the advanced technologies and human ingenuity that exist today.

The primary purpose of this meetup group, at this point, is to work together to develop strategies to inform others of the state of technology today, promote environmental awareness, the science of human behavior and the possibilities for sustaining the earth's resources in the future. This movement aims to apply known technologies on a global scale to help the world eradicate poverty and preventable diseases while, at the same time, raising the quality of life for all people. With the depletion of the earth's resources at a scale never before known, a fundamental change in the way we live and interact with our environment is not only necessary but inevitable. We have a choice. One option is to continue on this path of self-destruction which has resulted in 50% of the planet living on less than $2/day, endless corruption by our governments and corporations and a competitive lifestyle which forces us to battle each other rather than generate common solutions to our problems. Alternatively we can choose to benefit from the advanced technologies that have allowed us to live our current quality of life and share these with the world through hydroponics, permaculture, mag lev trains, nanotechnology etc in order to feed everyone and allow a quality of life previous generations could have only dreamed of. Humans created the system we currently live in which means humans can change it. It's only a choice so let's make sure we make the right one.
