Tour & Group Meal at Lockridge Community

During our tour and goup meal we'll learn about the Lockridge Community's history, their governance and ownership model, milestones and plans for the future. From Carol Stack, our hostess: "We'll have a garden work day from 2-4 in our west side garden (the orchard is on the east side) and suggest that y'all show up at our garden at, say 3:00 (Potluck at 5:00). You can spend time with us in the garden, work a bit if you wish, and then a couple of us, me included, will take you on a walk around the community. You see and hear about our loosely defined land tenure goals--and how it turned out)--see homes and the land, the creek, the dry pond, our cemetery (approved by Orange Country in the 70s, but not a chance these days, I imagine), our "industrial park"--hmmmm--with shops, and studios, and work places, the soccer field, basketball court, our bread oven (which we hope to have fired up) and the picnic shelter where often gather. We will have the pot luck dinner outside at the picnic shelter unless it is too cold. If it is we'll do to my place." Below are driving directions to my place. If you get lost, call me at 933-1456. FROM DUKE FOREST HIKING TRAILS ON ERWIN Take Erwin Rd. and turn right on Cameron Blvd. ( NC 751). Go .5 miles Turn left on Erwin at the roundabout (just past 15-501) Go 1.8 miles Turn right at second traffic light at Mr. Sinai Road Go 3.4 miles miles and Turn left at Turkey Farm Road Go .3 miles to the 5th dirt driveway and turn left by the bunch of mailboxes at Lockridge Road (dirt) Go a very short ways .2 miles and take a sharp left at Tinker's Turn -(it's a very sharp down hill left). Park as soon as you see my car (tan Volvo station wagon). Look down the hill and you'll see a path and a house through the trees -come on down. --- FROM I-40 Take I-40 from 15-501 toward Greensboro Go one exit and get off at Exit 266 (also Highway 86). Turn right at Exit 266 heading toward Hillsborough (away from Chapel Hill). Drive 1.5 miles and turn right on Mt. Sinai---you'll see Allen's Bar-B-Que and a RR crossing at Mr. Sinai. Drive 1.7 miles up Mr. Sinai and turn right at Turkey Farm Road. Go .3 miles to the 5th dirt driveway and turn left by the bunch of mailboxes at Lockridge Road (dirt). Go down MLK toward Hillsboro

When you see I-40, drive 1.5 miles further

and turn right on Mt. Sinai---you'll see Allen's Bar-B-Que and a RR crossing at Mr. Sinai.

Drive 1.7 miles up Mr. Sinai and turn right at Turkey Farm Road.

Go .3 miles to the 5th dirt driveway and turn left by the bunch of mailboxes at Lockridge Road (dirt).

Go a very short ways .2 miles and take a sharp left at Tinker's Turn -(it's a very sharp down hill left).
