Quarter Waxing Crescent Beach Run
Hosted by The Ventura County Trail Runners Group
Details
Dustin was very put off by the lack of lunar data on this last run, so let it be known that we'll be at roughly a 30% waxing crescent this time around.
This time everyone should have two weeks to plan around. All you people looking to get in shape during the new year should join up!
Post-work runs are pretty much all in the dark now, and what better way to enjoy the night than on the beach? It's going to be dark, so bring a flashlight/headlamp/torch for the jettys!
It's an out and back, so you can set your own distance. Full distance will be a 6-8 mile run from Pierpont Elementary to Emma Wood and back. Great for practicing barefoot running, getting in a couple miles on injury, or just having fun. Faster runners will be forced either onto the soft sand or into the ocean.
Pierport Elementary is halfway between Seaward and Marina Park. Coming from the 101, head towards the beach on Seaward, take a left on Pierpont, and follow it to a terribly designed intersection, where you'll take a right onto New Bedford Court. There's always plenty of parking. The group will meet up where the beach and New Bedford Court meet, GPS 34.258767,-119.271893.
Showing up early to get in a quick swim in the protected cove near the marina is encouraged!
