Mad Ken's Humpday hike/All Three Peaks in the Conejo Canyon Western Plateau
Details
http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/c/c/b/c/event_254932412.jpegWelcome Trailblazers!. before the days get too short, I have to make this hike happen that I've talked about to my loyal hiking crew members. We will hit the trail this time in reverse order, checking in on our Hill canyon flag peak as the last stop before heading back to trailhead. This hike will be a moderately strenuous 8+/- mile loop with 2300+/- ft of elevation gain. The western plateau is now accessible by way of the new hill canyon road bridge or from the end of rancho conejo blvd, and is expanding with the development of new trails to be enjoyed by hikers , bikers and horse folk. This area is a beautiful system of deeply eroded canyons, plateaus, and ridgelines in the northwest portion of the conejo valley. From the end of Rancho rd. we will drop down into the arroyo barranca / hill canyon area and start gaining elevation via the Western plateau trail to our first stop at Noname Peak. This first peak will be steep, and I recommend you bring hiking shoes with tread!. Once we conquer Noname we will follow the power poll lines to crest our second peak which affords views of the inland peaks of the topa topas to the ventura coastline views of the channel islands / camarillo. On a clear day, you can see snow covered peaks of eastern mountain ranges. From there it's all about making sure our flag is still in tact on Hill canyon peak, where we will break for a snack before heading back. http://photos1.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/b/3/9/4/event_239205972.jpegThis path is truly a new gem that I will be posting on a regular basis. Hope you can make it out to enjoy our local canyons.
