Malibu Creek Meander and Tea Party- a Very Special Gentler Hike

Details

The Trailblazers have hiked to all of the most ‘popular’ destinations in Malibu Creek State Park – the rock pool, MASH site, Century Lake- but on this hike, we'll wander back through time along quiet, scenic trails & historical roadways to discover some of the nooks and crannies of the park not frequently visited.
http://photos2.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/3/5/0/4/600_275053572.jpeg The hike will be approximately 5 miles, with 200’ of elevation gain, most of it in one spot. The pace will be very gentle, with frequent stops to enjoy and appreciate both history and scenery – expect about 2.5 hours.
It is likely to be HOT, so be prepared with plenty of water.

Tea, tea sandwiches, scones and other delectable edibles will be provided, as well as cups and place settings. Feel free to bring something to share. Food and drinks can be left in the cars until the hike is over- the picnic spot is close to where we'll park. Jean will have an extra cooler or two in her vehicle for anyone wanting to store their goodies if you need it.
Pace: This is a gentler hike. We will go at a more moderate pace than a regular Trailblazer hike, and we'll take more breaks. The purpose is to give novice and intermediate hikers who may feel they're not up to a regular hike a chance to get out and experience our beautiful trails. Faster hikers are welcome to come along, with the understanding that the hike is geared toward those who want to go at an easier pace.

Anyone can lead a Trailblazer hike, and these 3 women have taken the initiative to put one together for us.
NOTE- we will not be meeting in any of our usual spots. Parking in the lot requires $12 day use fee or a State Park pass- carpools are recommended. Please be prompt. If you park outside the park, allow plenty of time to walk in to make our meeting time. We will meet in the lower lot near the restrooms – once you have passed the entrance kiosk it is the 4th gate on the left (last option for day use parking).
Directions:
From the 101, head south on Las Virgenes Rd. Just after you cross Mulholland, the park entrance will be on your right.
From PCH, head north on Malibu Canyon Rd. Park entrance is 5.7 miles, on the left. If you hit the light at Mulholland, you've just missed it.
