Conejo Mountain in Dos Vientos, a Gentler Hike

http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/2/b/d/8/event_22691224.jpegStarting from the Dos Vientos Community Park, we'll hike a singletrack to Conejo Mtn Road, an Edison Road that climbs up to the (seemingly) isolated volcanic regions of Conejo Mtn. On the way up, we'll be looking down on Dos Vientos and will be able to pick out trails we'll be travelling on future hikes. After the road crests, we'll enter an isolated part of the world with strange volcanic rock formations above us. If we go far enough along the road, we'll be able to see around Conejo Mtn and view Camarillo far below. We'll retrace our steps to return. Overall, we'll hike 5 to 6 miles (depending on how far the group wants to go) and climb about 800'. Optional lunch at a nearby dining establishment will follow the hike for those who are interested.

Directions: From the 101 Freeway in Newbury Park, exit at Borchard Road. Drive 3.4 miles and turn into the Dos Vientos Community Park on the right, just after Via Ricardo (and before Via Las Brisas).
