Welcome Trailblazers!. After indulging in all those Thanksgiving specialty treats , this is a good time to bag a couple peaks in the Western plateau area to knock off some potential extra pounds....yes? . This hike will be a moderately strenuous 7mile +/- loop with 1600+/- ft of elevation gain. The western plateau is now accessible by way of the new hill canyon road bridge or from the end of rancho conejo blvd, and is expanding with the development of new trails to be enjoyed by hikers , bikers and horse folk. This area is a beautiful system of deeply eroded canyons, plateaus, and ridgelines in the northwest portion of the conejo valley. From the end of Rancho rd. we will drop down into the arroyo barranca / hill canyon area and start gaining elevation via the Western plateau trail to our first stop at Hill Canyon Peak. We'll do a lolipop loop off trail then head to our second peak thru some new switchbacks, single tracks and fire roads following the power poll lines to crest our second peak which affords views of the inland peaks of the topa topas to the ventura coastline views of the channel islands / camarillo. On a clear day, you can see snow covered peaks of eastern mountain ranges.
