Explore the Rimrock Valley & Conejo Ridge Open Space ~ Fairly Gentler Friendly

Details
*** Please read the entire description ***
You've seen the Rimrock Valley from the Los Robles Trail system, probably without knowing its name or how to get into and out of it. This will introduce you to a virtually unknown trailhead, smack in the center of Thousand Oaks, and show you the way.

We'll be hiking into and up out of a picturesque box canyon, up the Conejo Ridge to the Westlake Edison Fire Road, past the "Bench Hill" and across part of the Los Robles Trail before crossing the Edison Fire Road again, descending into the Rimrock Valley, through the valley, and back to the cars.

I've just hiked the route today (Monday 4/25), and it's thick with wildflowers and foxtails; long pants, high-top shoes, and trekking poles are very worthwhile. There are two patches of poison oak that I saw; I'll point them out along the way.

The total distance is just over 4 miles, with a +/- 1,300 ft. vertical. There are a few steep spots, with some loose rock. Sturdy shoes are always a good idea, and this hike is no exception.
Dogs are allowed in the Conejo Ridge Open Space (under control, on a 6-foot leash), but you'll be brushing out foxtails for hours... just sayin'.
