White Plains Novice Writing Group MeetupTuesday Night Meetup.
When I was looking for members to join an established writing group of which I am part, I found there were many people who wanted a group for the beginning or novice writer. I started this group for those who might be intimidated by authors they feel are further along in their writing.
I will be facilitating the group by giving writing assignments and exercises to those who would like them. I will also guide the group in their critiques which can be helpful to new writers and new groups in general. Members are welcome to submit any of their writing whether it was assigned or not, but at least two writers must submit their work for each meeting. The group as a whole will review two works each meeting.
I will also be available to individually critique work even if you don’t want it read to the group. Newbies and novices are encouraged to join. This group is about feeling more accomplished as a writer and becoming more confident about your work.
We will be limiting EACH MEETUP to 10 participants including the facilitator. Too many people and we lose the abily to critique succesfully and take in the critique of the other writers.
I graduated with an English degree from Columbia University this past spring and am currently working on my MFA at CCNY. Tea for Mommy, will appear in the February issue of This Great Society is Going Crash. I am currently working on a memoir entitled, One for Luck.
