Oct: Session One: ($10 fee per person) The Importance Of Alone Time
Details
- Please note this group is $10 per session. We charge a fee to cover the rental space fee. Thank you
As this group is growing, we have decided to try holding two sessions a month. We find it is important to keep the group attendance limited so people have space to share and connect. We will try the added additional date as a trial. We also hope this provides members an alternative date as we know that a Tuesday does not work for everyone. Please kindly select one session that you can attend and please keep your rsvp accurate. If you rsvp and do not show it's a shame as we likely had to turn someone else away.
Please note, this is a group created for support. It is not intended to be group therapy nor replace individual counseling /therapy.
Please read towards the bottom of this page under "Location" so you are well informed of the specific location for this evening. We do wish to start right at 7pm and therefore encourage you to please arrive early. Doors will open at 6:45pm. Please allow extra time so you have space to park, locate us and check in. We fully recognize some times things prevent us from arriving early. Please do your best so that we can dive in and enjoy the evening together!

Do you ever....
-
Find yourself needing more down time during you day, especially to process stressful events?
-
Tend to be aware of subtleties in your environment? Make it a point to avoid violent movies and TV shows?
-
Have a rich, complex inner life, with a keen imagination and vivid dreams?
-
Find yourself effected by other people's moods?
-
Tend to be deeply moved by the arts or music?
-
Find yourself greatly soothed by being in nature or near water?
-
Easily overwhelmed by things like bright lights, strong smells and coarse fabrics?
-
Get overwhelmed when you have a lot to do within a short amount of time and need to take breaks to get re-centered?
-
Tend to need more sleep than the average person?
-
Grow tired of others telling you that you are "too sensitive" or "shy"?
-
Have difficulty when you must compete a task or perform that you become shaky or nervous and therefore do much worse then you otherwise would?
If you answered yes to some of these questions, you are probably a Highly Sensitive Person ,(HSP). however, you are far from being alone. Approximately 15-20% of the human population are thought to have a more finely tuned nervous system. This in turn, causes us to be more susceptible to environmental stimuli, whether that stimuli is positive or negative. The more positive the environment, the more we thrive; the more negative the environment, the more we suffer. Thus the HSP trait can be a blessing and a challenge, depending upon the environments in which we find ourselves , and depending upon how we have learned to cope in those environments.
The term, highly sensitive person was coined by Dr Elaine Aron in 1996 and has since been researched extensively by psychologists and neurologists. It’s used to describe people who have the “innate trait of high sensory-processing sensitivity (SPS)” and is characterized by a greater awareness of subtleties, which results in becoming over aroused/overwhelmed by levels of sensory stimulation that don’t bother others.
Being a highly sensitive person does not mean you are weak. It merely means you run at a different frequency then others. This is not a bad thing. Many great talented people of the world were/ are highly sensitive:. Albert Einstein, Martin Luther King, Glen Close, Eddie Murphy, Nicole Kidman, Jim Carey, Steve Martin, Deepak Chopra, Emily Dickinson , Mark Twaine, Eleanor Roosevelt, to name a few of some of the long list of well known people.
In this group, facilitated by Kaitlyn and Brandon, we will discuss solutions that, hopefully, will result in our feeling supported and empowered!
We look forward to seeing you!

It is our belief that while there are many wonderful tools available connecting with others in person is also incredibly valuable. We do hope you will join us sometime!
