So what's with the whole "bastard" thing, anyway? If you're new to this, maybe it's not obvious. But if you've done it before, we both know: I hear you muttering it under your breath as I push you to work past the pain and test your limits. I wear it as a badge of honor.

The Bastard's Bootcamp offers an intense, fun outdoor workout that combines hills, stairs, body-weight and core exercises to engage all the muscle groups while improving endurance and cardio. You don't have to be in peak condition -- just be willing to push hard, sweat buckets and feel great when it's over.

It's a beast of a workout, but you're a tough bastard!

We meet at Yale University's Science Hill, in Visitor Parking Lot 16V, near the Peabody Museum and just below the Kline Biology Tower. Bring water, a towel and possibly a yoga mat, since we'll be doing some of the workout on the grass. You can also bring a set of 2- to 4-pound hand weights if you want an extra challenge.

Leave the attitude at home.
