Dash for the Beads Festival and 5K

Details
The 5th annual DASH FOR THE BEADS, a 5K Run/Walk/Costume Contest/Family & Pet Friendly festival, hits the pavement Saturday March 1st, 2014. The race route will prove to be one of the most challenging 5k runs in all of Texas. The certified route in North Oak Cliff starts and ends at Kidd Springs Park and takes our runners through the hills of East Kessler.
Come early and meet local merchants and vendors and stay after for a Mardi Gras party not to be missed with live music and BBQ from award winning Oak Cliff residents. This year’s event will prove to be our largest event ever with a beer garden sponsored by local breweries, and Barefoot Winery. Dress yourself and your dog in Mardi Gras regalia and party until we spill over into the Bishop Arts District.
Prizes for the best-dressed walker, runner, and pets and an envious trophy for the winner of the chip-timed 5K event! Medals will be presented to the top three males and top three females in each of the following age groups- 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+. Registration through January 30th at midnight is $30.00. After January 30th until the day of the race registration is $35.00. Day of Race registration is $40.00. 1 Mile Walkers can register any time for $25.00 and Teachers and Children are $15.00. Come help us celebrate our new course, new logo and race look, and receive a race bag with beautiful gifts from local merchants and a Race shirt you’ll wear again and again.
