How long have you been playing?

I've been composing, performing, and recording for about 25 years. The Native American Flute came into my life about 15 years ago when my mother, Mary, was living and teaching music on a Diné (Navajo) reservation in Pinón, AZ. The NA flute gave my music wings. The NA flute has the ability, like only a handful of instruments do (such as Spanish Guitar, Uilleann Pipes, and Armenian Duduk), to ground to Earth the listeners attention like a lightning rod. —-—-—- Bio Info: Award-Winning Composer/Recording Artist: —Contemporary Native American Flutes, World Flutes, Synthesizers, Keyboards, Percussion, World Instruments, MIDI programming. ~ Winner (1st & 2nd Place) of the 2010 People's Choice Contest; Multi-track Instrumental song category; Native American Flute ("Winds of the Desert Sands"—from the album "Fire In The Desert") **Hear Samples of Daniel's Music at:

Do you have a favorite flute maker or player?

Flutes are like tools... You can never own enough of them. Each one has it's own unique voice and purpose. There are many, many great flute makers out there, and even more great flutes, but a few of the flutes that I regularly record and perform with are made by: Butch Hall (Butch Hall Flutes), Odell Borg (High Spirits), Micheal Graham Allen (Coyote Oldman), and Larry Evans (Mockingbird Flutes). If you have any questions, members of The Lone Star Flute Circle will be happy to answer them.

What do you want out of the meetings?

"Community, Friendship, Music, and Culture". It's our flute circle's "motto". It's a place to nurture, grow, and share music and talk with like-minded souls.

What Daniel G. B. is saying about this Meetup Group

Enjoyed our time together on Saturday! So far the new year is exciting. We had a new member join us at the Turquoise Trading Post (literally walked by and decided to join us). We're implementing some new plans to get our group growing and more integrated into the Austin mainstream. I'm looking forward to our next meetup!
